Sarah Lanningham

President

Sarah's family is in their third year as proud members of the Tiger family with sons in second and fourth grade.  Living just one block away from the school has given her an amazing opportunity to get to know the students, families, and staff of JLES.  Sarah is looking forward to the opportunity to continue to champion the JLES community in her second year as a member of the PSCO.  A native of Canada, Sarah is currently serving as Vice President of News and Events for an international news agency. 

Shannon Sheridan

Vice President

Shannon Sheridan is mom to First Grader, Sylvia, and future John Lewis Tiger, Otto. She and her husband Rory have lived in the neighborhood since 2012. A New Englander, Shannon moved to DC in 2000 to study Theatre at Catholic University; One of her favorite things about JLES is the annual collaboration with parent, faculty, and community volunteers on the school play! Professionally, Shannon is a Hairdresser, and in her free time she enjoys DIY house projects with Rory, meeting her goal of reading 50 books each year, and traveling (with her kids!) to music festivals.


Marianne Forest

Co-Secretary

Marianne's family is in their third year at John Lewis, her sons are in pre-k 4 and second grade. She is looking forward to engaging our parent community as we continue to celebrate and empower our students inside and outside of school. Marianne is currently a graduate student pursuing her Master of Library and Information Science degree at the University of Maryland. When she is not reading or writing papers she is hiking in Rock Creek Park, listening to podcasts, or playing ice hockey with the District Renegades. 

Lisa Large

Co-Secretary

Lisa is mom to current PK4 student Collins, second grader Mac, and future JLES Tiger Sam. She and her husband, Patrick, moved to the neighborhood in 2015 from Dupont and haven’t looked back. They love the JLES community and feel fortunate to have such a safe, warm, vibrant neighborhood school within walking distance for our kids. They have been impressed with the teachers and their love for and dedication to the children they teach. Lisa is a strategic communications professional. Originally from NC, she’s a Tar Heel fanatic but has also taken to cheering for her husband’s alma mater, the University of Tennessee. 

Lisa Jackson

Co-Treasurer

Lisa’s family has been part of the John Lewis (formerly West ES) family since 1980, with multiple generations being alumni. Lisa was co-founder of the PSCO in 2008, and has served as president, treasurer, and chairing a variety of annual events. Daughter of JLES’ full-time IT volunteer (Mr. Parker), service runs through her veins and she has been proud to work on communications, recruitment, fundraising, and even teaching a middle-grade Creative Writing class for a few years. Lisa works for a non-profit organization, formerly as the Chief Administrative Officer and currently as VP of Member Services. In her spare time, she is also a writer under the pen name L.D. Parker.

Vita Soto

Co-Treasurer

Vita is mom to First Grader, Dimitri Dye-Soto, and her family is currently in their third year at John Lewis. Vita and her family moved to the neighborhood in 2016, and she has been living in DC for 15 years. She moved to DC from Southern California, where she was born and raised. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her son, husband, and doggy. They enjoy hikes, swimming, and museums. She is also involved in her church community and serves as a women's life group leader. Professionally, Vita works in adult education and is passionate about advocacy for higher education access. Vita is excited to be in community with the John Lewis families.


Candace Armstrong-Koman

Member-At-Large

Candace is the mother of a kindergartener at JLES. During his PreK years, she witnessed the importance of a strong connection between the school and the broader community and is excited to be an active part of this dynamic. Candace is a clinical psychologist and in her spare time loves to eat, exercise, travel and play video games with her son. 

Maya Davis

LSAT Representative

Maya Davis is a native Washingtonian and DCPS graduate. After law school she taught high school social studies in DCPS before transitioning to a career as an education attorney. She is the Mom of two boys, newly enrolled at JLES, and a champion for all students.
