Flannery Goldberg

Co-President

Flannery is a JLES parent three times over with a daughter in first grader and twin sons in PK4 , all of whom adore heading off to John Lewis. As a Farragut street resident, Flannery watched with excitement as the school was rebuilt in 2020 and has loved seeing the community flourish in its new home. Originally from Chicago, she is now approaching her 20th year of living in DC and is proud to call it home and looks forward to making John Lewis a place where all kids and families can thrive. When not parenting she is an office manager at a downtown consulting firm, and enjoys traveling to destinations near & far. 


Marianne Forrest

Co-President

Marianne's family is in their third year at John Lewis, her sons are in kindergarten and third grade. She is looking forward to engaging our parent community as we continue to celebrate and empower our students inside and outside of school. Marianne is currently a graduate student pursuing her Master of Library and Information Science degree at the University of Maryland. When she is not reading or writing papers she is hiking in Rock Creek Park, listening to podcasts, or playing ice hockey with the District Renegades. 

Candace Koman

Co-Vice President

Candace is the mother of a first-grader at JLES. During his PreK years, she witnessed the importance of a strong connection between the school and the broader community and is excited to be an active part of this dynamic. Candace is a clinical psychologist and in her spare time loves to eat, exercise, travel and play video games with her son.


Julia Linfors

Co-Vice President

Julia is the parent of a gregarious Kindergartener & a vibrant PK3 student at JLES and is in her second year as part of the school community. You can often find her chaperoning a field trip or volunteering to support the school play. Outside of school, Julia and her family love going to Shenandoah National Park, local sporting events, and the pool. She's proud to be part of this rich school community and looking forward to a great year.

Christina Hegedus

Co-Secretary

Christina is a proud JLES parent heading into her 4th year in the school community, with one son in 1st grade and another heading into PK3 next year. School drop off is one of her favorite parts of the day - she’s excited to celebrate and grow the positivity and energy that exude from this special place. Christina is Head of Product at a DC-based health tech company. She’s been in the city for 7 years but also calls St. Louis and New Orleans home, loves yoga, great meals, and porch hangs with neighbors.

Ben Houck

Co-Secretary

Ben is a Dad to 3rd grader Adelaide and Kindergartener Dylan. He and his wife Katrina have been part of the John Lewis Elementary parent community since 2019, when Adelaide was in PK3, and before the opening of the new building. His family has lived in the neighborhood since 2018. When Ben is not chaperoning field trips or managing Girl Scout cookie sales, he likes to exercise, play board games, and bake. Ben is an Economist at the Bureau of Labor Statistics where he helps to measure consumer inflation. 

Lisa Jackson

Co-Treasurer

Lisa’s family has been part of the John Lewis (formerly West ES) family since 1980, with multiple generations being alumni. Lisa was co-founder of the PSCO in 2008, and has served as president, treasurer, and chairing a variety of annual events. Daughter of JLES’ full-time IT volunteer (Mr. Parker), service runs through her veins and she has been proud to work on communications, recruitment, fundraising, and even teaching a middle-grade Creative Writing class for a few years. Lisa works for a non-profit organization, formerly as the Chief Administrative Officer and currently as VP of Member Services. In her spare time, she is also a writer under the pen name L.D. Parker.

Vita Soto

Co-Treasurer

Vita is mom to Second Grader, Dimitri Dye-Soto, and her family is currently in their fourth year at John Lewis. Vita and her family moved to the neighborhood in 2016, and she has been living in DC for 15 years. She moved to DC from Southern California, where she was born and raised. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her son, husband, and doggy. They enjoy hikes, swimming, and museums. She is also involved in her church community and serves as a women's life group leader. Professionally, Vita works in adult education and is passionate about advocacy for higher education access. Vita is excited to be in community with the John Lewis families.

Laura Berger

Member-At-Large

Laura is a mom to a 1st grader who has attended JLES since PK3.  She has been amazed by the welcoming, supportive, and fun community at JLES and is excited to serve on the PSCO this year.  Laura has worked in public schools as a special education coordinator and data administrator and in her free time enjoys biking around DC with her family. 




Anya Creightney

Member-At-Large

Anya Creightney is a program specialist and the head of the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature program at the Library of Congress.  As part of her larger mandate, she works closely on U.S. Poet Laureate projects, the National Book Festival and year-round programs, like the Live! at the Library series. She also enjoys cooking and documentaries, and she spends oodles of time reading to her kids.




Nydria Humphries

Member-At-Large

Ms. Nydria Humphries is a teacher and mother to a preschooler and middle school-aged scholar, Patrick and Deja. She is a community advocate, who believes in the great words of the late Coretta Scott King, “The greatness of a community is most measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” Nydria is looking forward to contributing her ideas to the board and helping John Lewis to continue its wonderful growth!




Sasha Cooper-Morrison

LSAT Representative

A native Washingtonian and lifelong resident of 16th St. Heights, Sasha is mom to two girls in PreK4 and 1st grade at JLES. Now in her family’s fourth year as members of the JLES family, Sasha is excited about contributing to the community through the PSCO. Professionally Sashaoversees national marketing, promotional and industry engagement initiatives for the Office of Apprenticeship at the Department of Labor. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughters, mom, spinning classes and running in Rock Creek Park.

Maya Davis

LSAT Representative

Maya Davis is a native Washingtonian and DCPS graduate. After law school she taught high school social studies in DCPS before transitioning to a career as an education attorney. She is the Mom of two boys, newly enrolled at JLES, and a champion for all students.
